We use the thermal deburring process to remove unwanted burrs in a process-safe and cost-effective manner.

To prevent detachable burrs on your hydraulic or pneumatic components from causing a system failure, we also offer thermal deburring in our company. Burr formation is an undesirable “companion” in the manufacturing process. During the production and processing of metallic workpieces, sharp edges, fraying and splinters are sometimes left behind. To remove these, we use the thermal deburring process.

How does thermal deburring work?

In thermal deburring or TEM deburring (Thermal Energy Machining), thin, protruding burrs are removed with the aid of explosive combustion. A mixture of oxygen and hydrogen, natural gas or methane is fed into a hermetically sealed deburring chamber and then electrically ignited (oxyhydrogen reaction). This produces temperatures of 2,500 to 3,500 °C, which, together with the remaining oxygen, initiate the combustion of the burr.

The particular benefit of this process is that even hard-to-reach places such as cavities or the intersections of two holes in the component are completely deburred. In the case of fluid- or air-carrying components, system failures can thus be avoided, since there are no longer any burrs that could come loose.
